Saul knew what he wanted and where he was going. Note that he is the one
who decides to go to the high priest to ask for letters to go in search of
those who belong to the hated “The Way,” a derogatory name he uses to call
those who follow Jesus. The truth is that it is not clear what authority or
jurisdiction a letter from the high priest in Jerusalem had over citizens of a
mostly Greek and Roman region, but details like these were not going to stop
someone like Saul. Jesus had other plans. That which started out as a trip to
Damascus ends up becoming an "In-Between" that changes his entire
life. Saul was never the same.
What do you think motivates Saul to persecute Christians in his time?
What does this tell us about Saul as a person?
Jesus interrupts Saul's journey "suddenly." Why do you think
Jesus does it this way?
How is Ananias similar to Saul in this passage? How are they different?
Saul goes blind for three days, without eating or drinking. What do you
think is going through Saul's mind right now? How would you have handled the
same situation?
What differences do you see in Saul before and after his "In
Between?" What did he gain and lose in this experience?
Think of a season of “in between” in your personal life. What
differences do you see in yourself before and after this season? What did you learn?
