Christian
life is not just about us. Wesley, the founder of Methodism put this
way: “Solitary religion is not to be found there. “Holy Solitaries” is a
phrase no more consistent with the gospel than Holy Adulterers. The
gospel of Christ knows of no religion, but social; no holiness but
social holiness. Faith working by love, is the length and breadth and
depth and height of Christian perfection.” The aim of the “good news”
that we find in the gospel is for creation as a whole. God is saving the
world. Just as is the case with us individually, the Holy Spirit is
calling out what is missed the mark (sinful), what it should be
(righteousness) and the consequences (judgement) for society. We are
called to be the hands and feet of Christ in restoring the whole of
creation. This we call the Kingdom of God.
What is the most effective team that you were ever a part of? What made the team so good?
What
do you think that Paul means when he writes: “the creation waits in
eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed?”
What freedom is Romans 8:21 referring to? Why is this so important? How have you seen this come true in your life?
How can one sheep be as valuable as ninety-nine? What do you think was the reaction of the friends and neighbors to this celebration?
What is the biggest difference between the value system of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law as opposed to Jesus?
What
is one Kingdom value that you need to adopt in your life? What is one
Kingdom value that you can see that you have adopted in your Christian
walk? What do you need to do to get there?
