He Form Us

December 11, 2016

Luke 1:46-55

The first time that we see Mary in the bible she is troubled and confused, but how could you blame her? Clearly, she was overwhelm by God’s proposal. How could she, a simple Jewish teenager, live up to any of the expectations presented to her in the words of the angel? What Mary could not understand at the time was that the magnitude of the vision also included an invitation to change. The vision was not neutral, the vision proposed by God would form Mary as a woman for life. The same is true for us. Jesus arrival to our lives forms us. Beyond been connected to a greater vision, we are formed into disciples of the living Christ.

If you were to compare who you are to the person you think God would like to be, what would be most overwhelming to you? Where are you farthest away from where God would like you to be?

What do you think was going through Mary’s mind as she was listening to the words of the angel?

How would you have reacted? Why?

How is Mary’s perspective different from verses 26-38 to verses 46-55? What change?

What would need to happen in your life for that can of change in perspective to happen in you?
