From BIG to SMALL

September 11, 2016
Hebrews 12:1-3

Although we do our best to prepare an excellent Sunday worship experience, we understand that most often life transforming moments happen in small settings, in small groups, and one to one interactions. We believe that these settings are as important, if not more important, for discipleship to take place. Think about who served as a witness to God in your journey as a disciple. Think about who stood in the gap with you in difficult times. Clearly stated, slow small steps in small groups tend to last longer than fast big steps in big groups.

Would you rather go to a concert with 20 of your friends or have a two hour one to one conversation with the artist?

Read Hebrews 12:1-3. Who is in your “great cloud of witness?” Why?

How does the “great cloud of witnesses” help us to “throw off everything that hinders us and sin?”

Why does sin “easily entangle us” when we are on our own?

Hebrews 12:1-2 states “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” Why do you think that the author uses plural as opposed to “let you run?” Why is this important?

How often do you think of your spiritual growth as a group activity that we are doing together? How does that change your understanding?
