Marcos12:1-12

Usted puede arrendar un carro durante cinco años a un precio "bajo." Usted puede conducirlo. Usted puede cuidar de él. Usted lo puede lavar. Usted puede poner “tintes” a las ventanas. Usted puede obtener el mejor sistema de música conocido por el hombre. Usted puede hacer eso, pero nada de esto significa que usted es el propietario del auto. A pesar de todo el dinero que usted puede poner en él y todo el trabajo duro, el auto sigue siendo propiedad de la compañía a la que lo arrendó. No importa cuando le guste el carro o lo acostumbrado que esté, no es suyo. Lo mismo es cierto para la iglesia. Los líderes religiosos habían estado a cargo durante tanto tiempo que habían empezado a creer que ellos eran los dueños. Ellos sentían que podían dictar propósito y visión. ¡Tal era el caso que se sentían justificados en matar al hijo del Maestro cuando vino a reclamar lo que siempre fue suyo! Como si eso les hiciera dueños. La iglesia no nos pertenece. Cristo es el Rey. Nosotros somos sus siervos. No importa cuánto tiempo ha pasado desde que el maestro visitó la propiedad, está sigue siendo su iglesia.

¿Cuál es la peor experiencia que usted ha tenido rentándole o prestándole algo suyo a otra persona? ¿Qué pasó?

¿Por qué piensas que el nivel de agresión aumenta atreves de la parábola? ¿Qué Jesús estaba tratando de decir?

¿Con qué derecho el Propietario de la iglesia tienen que nosotros no tenemos como Sus siervos?

Rejected Stone

Mark 12:1-12

 You can lease a car for five years at a “low” price. You can drive it. You can care for it. You can wash it. You can get the windows tinted. You can get the best music system known to man. You can do that, but none of it means that you are the owner of the car. Despite all the money that you might put on it and all the hard work, the car still is the property of the company from which you leased it. No matter how much you love the car or how used you are to this car, it is simply not yours. The same is true for the church. The religious leaders had been in charge for so long that they had started to believe that they were the owners. They felt that they could dictate purpose and vision. This was so much the case that they felt justified in killing the Masters’ son when He came to reclaim what was always His! As if that would make them owners! Christianity does not belong to us. Christ is King. We are Christ’s servants. No matter how long it has been since the master visited the property, it still belongs to Christ. This is God’s church.  

What is the worst experience you have had renting or lending something of yours to someone else? What happened?

Why do you think the level of aggression increases through the parable? What was Jesus trying to say?

What right does the Owner of the church have that we do not have as His servants?

El Templo y La Higuera

Marcos 11:12-25

El papel de la higuera era proporcionar frutas. Las personas hambrientas pueden comer y estar satisfechas por su fruto. Ese fue el propósito de la higuera. El papel del templo era conectar a las personas con Dios. La gente desesperada por una relación con Dios podían venir a ser satisfechas en Su presencia. Ese fue el propósito del templo. Ambos habían dejado de hacer aquello para lo que habían sido creados. En los ojos de Jesús, ambos sufrirán la misma consecuencia. Ellos dos se secan y se marchitan. No importa qué tan verde las hojas sean y cuán sano sea el tronco si no hubiera fruta en el árbol sería secado. No importa cuán bello era el templo, no importa cuán hermosas eran sus columnas o las veces que Dios había hablado a su pueblo allí, el momento en que no pudo hacer lo que tenía que hacer ya estaba seco. Jesús no tiene ningún problema llamando al templo de Jerusalén, el mismo que David diseño y Salomón consagrado, una "cueva de ladrones." Al igual que un higüero sin fruta, no tenía uso.

The Temple and The Fig Tree

Mark 11:12-25

The role of the fig tree was to provide fruit. Hungry people could eat and be satisfied by its fruit. That was the purpose of the fig tree. The role of the temple was to connect people with God. People desperate for a relationship with God could come and be satisfied in His presence. That was the purpose of the temple. Both had failed to do what they were intended to do. In Jesus’ eyes both will suffer the same consequences. They will both dry up and wither. No matter how green the leaves were and how thick the trunk was if there was no fruit the tree had to be removed. No matter how beautiful the temple was, no matter how beautiful were its columns or how many times God has spoken to His people there, the moment that it failed to do what it was supposed to do it was no good. Jesus has no problem calling the Jerusalem temple, the same one that David built and Solomon consecrated, a “den of robbers.” Like a fig with no fruit, it had no use.

Marcos10:35-45

¿Recuerdas la primera vez que llegaste a ser jefe? Tal vez te dejaron a cargo mientras tu madre iba al supermercado. Tal vez obtuviste el codiciado puesto de Asistente del Asistente de Gerente. Pero, ¿qué es lo que hace la mayoría de las personas cuando llegan a ser el jefe por primera vez? Ellos "señorear sobre los demás". Decimos cosas como "Voy a decirle a mamá y papá cuando ella llegue aquí". Aprovechamos al máximo nuestro poder recientemente encontrado para dominar de los demás. Para el resto del mundo eso está bien, pero no así para aquellos que se llaman cristianos. En el cristianismo, ser un líder es ser el mejor servidor. Significa servir a los demás con todo lo que tienes. Justo como lo hizo Jesús. 

Cuéntanos sobre la primera vez que fuiste el jefe. ¿Qué hiciste?

¿Por qué crees que Jacobo y Juan le pidieron a Jesús que hiciera "lo que le pedimos" antes de decirle a Jesús la naturaleza de su pedido? ¿Qué nos dice esto sobre Jacobo y Juan?

¿Hay algún momento en tu vida en el que le preguntaste por algo a Jesús sin saber realmente lo que estabas pidiendo? Explique. 

El liderazgo significaba algo diferente para los seguidores de Cristo que para todos los demás. ¿Por qué crees que Jesús lo vio así? ¿Por qué era tan importante?

¿Cómo sería diferente tu comprensión del liderazgo si siguieras la descripción de liderazgo de Jesús? ¿Cuál es al menos un elemento que cambiaría en su definición?
